“Lean425 was the first class I ever took at Bassline and I was hooked from the start. I couldn’t do a push up (even on my knees) and I had no idea what a TRX strap was, but still, I loved it. Whether it is by choosing heavier weights, trying to perfect my form, or increasing my speed on the treads, I find that I am constantly motivated to challenge myself as bit further with each class. I love the combination of cardiovascular work and strength training. I have definition now in my arms that used to be nonexistent. I feel stronger, leaner, more toned, and more confident in my own fitness than ever before thanks to Lean 425.”

“I have been taking Lean classes since Bassline opened their doors in January of 2013. I had been taking other group fitness classes at various other gyms for years. While I loved them and found them to be great workouts, nothing had been as challenging or inspiring as the Lean class at Bassline. Since taking them I am stronger, faster, and challenged like never before. The community in class and friendly competition is like no other gym. I worked out at Bassline throughout my pregnancy and up until the very day that I gave birth to my third baby. I am not trying to offend anyone with a legitimate physical addiction, but it is the only way I can effectively state how “addicted” to Bassline I am, particularly the Lean 425 class. Why? Simply put, there are no gimmicks – it is 60 minutes of a hard pumping, hard charging class taught by motivating, supportive teachers. One where if you are honest about the effort you are putting into it, you will see physical change quickly and continually.
I have always been a fairly fit person. Ive tried to exercise and eat well. Ive done every different workout available from the 90′s forward (I am dating myself!!) and committed to several long term, so I am not flighty or looking for the easy fix. What I do know is that as Ive gotten older, I mentally started to accept that less is more and that maybe I should just admit that my 40′s are a time to slow it down, accept a few extra pounds and get on with it. I probably didn’t look a ton different to the outside world, but I felt different. Older, less agile, slower, complacent.
A girlfriend casually mentioned that she took a class called Lean in Kirkland and that I might like it. I thought it might be fun, so I drove out of my way across the bridge to Bassline where I didn’t know a soul and took a class completely foreign to me. I was late to boot (sorry Angela!). WOW!!!!!!! It was REALLY hard, but the music and the energy of the class carried me through and I felt like a champ afterward, albeit a sweaty champ. I immediately knew I had to come back. What was most interesting about the 60 minutes of that class, is that I realized for the first time in a long time I was solely focused on ME. That doesn’t happen much. We all know as we become adults, get engrossed in our careers, our marriage, our kids or our growing circle of friends, that we spread ourselves more thinly and ultimately end up giving more of ourselves out – there’s no time to think about yourself, it’s just not an option. But for that one hour, it was all about me and what I was capable of physically doing. I now commit to this “me time” 4 days a week and have for 2 years. It continues to challenge me – each class pushes one to give more and is different than the last.Did I lose weight, that is really want you want to know, right? Honestly, yes. It is pretty inevitable given the HIIT nature of the class. I have also become more cardiovascularly fit, stronger, gained muscle definition, and I’m more nimble. I am more fit than I’ve ever been, truth be told. But more importantly, it has made me realize that I may be getting older, but I will never stop trying to improve. Everything I once believed about what my future would hold physically has been turned on it’s ear. I come each day ready to get er done and the amazing instructors support and inspire us, while the people in class root each other on. The energy is infectious!So call it self absorbed to focus on yourself for 60 minutes a day if you will. Call me addicted to prioritize workout time and make few exception to cancel. That dedicated me time has made me a better wife, mother, friend and example of what one can physically do in “middle age”! I am a leanaholic and I’m proud to say it!”
“I am still in amazement that I found Bassline Fitness. My hairstylist at Haute Philosophy, a few doors down, thought the work out would be just what I was looking for, she was totally right. I really do not like to work out BUT working out at Bassline Fitness is the simply the BEST! I began with the Mashup class with Dave. The music, music videos, and clear instruction keep me focused and challenged. They really care about your experience. The spin bikes, Kranks, and manual treadmills are great! I love the rowing too and hope they add 2 more on the other side of the studio. Both the Mashup and Lean classes feel like you are getting personal training and encouragement. The trainers are awesome and even ask for suggestions on their play lists. The Lean classes are great interval training because when you are not on the treadmill, you are using different equipment like weighted bars, weights, TRX, weighted balls, straps, sand bags – it always changes which helps you not get bored. If you can’t do something the trainers help you modify the exercise. They all are fantastic, I love the workouts with Jennifer, she is great!I feel stronger, more fit, more energized than I ever have. I enjoy the mix of ages too! I have a daughter who is a dancer and yoga instructor and a son who is an athlete, they are so thankful to Bassline Fitness for getting me out of the stands watching and into the gym committed to a work out. “When I first walked into one of Dave’s classes I was an overweight mother of two young children who had lost the part of myself that was once very athletic – it had been so many years since I had seen that person that I’d often have to convince myself she had even existed at all. Dave Fox runs a killer class! This is NOT your normal spin class. Take motivating, intense music, add spin and Krank, blend in some motivating and experienced instruction and you get an amazing workout experience! Dave’s classes are the most enjoyable I’ve ever experienced. You will leave his workouts refreshed in body and spirit.
“I first started taking spinning classes at Eco Fitness. It was the first gym I ever belonged to. Before I joined Eco, I had no interest in working out. I tried a few of the instructors at Eco and thought it was fun but I didn’t fall in love with spinning until the day I walked into Dave Fox’s spinning class. His class was always filled with energy and smiling people. Every single person in that room wanted to be there. We had to get up every morning at 5am when the gym opened and call in a bike because it was so popular. It would fill up by 6am and there would always be a waiting list to get into the class but it was completely worth it. You could be having a bad day but the second you walked into that class it immediately turned around. It started off being strictly spinning and he eventually added in the Krank Cycles and treadmills.
“Dave always played the best music. I don’t know how he did it but he would know what songs were going to be popular months before anyone else had heard of them. It was high-energy music, perfect for working out. It was easy to see that Dave loved what he was doing. I attended both his Monday 5:30pm class and his Tuesday/Thursday 9am class. The class was so much fun but at the same time you had to work very hard every class. It was not easy. By the end of class I was exhausted but in a good way. I jokingly said that it was fun torture. I have never felt more exhilarated than when I was in his class. I still remember the day he broke the news that he sold the gym and was moving out West. It was devastating. His class was a part of my life and I didn’t know what I would do on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9am. I have looked for spinning instructors like Dave but I still haven’t found anyone with his energy and talent. It was bittersweet to hear that he was opening up a new gym. I am happy that people will get to experience the phenomenon of Dave Fox’s spin classes but at the same time completely jealous of them.
